FAQs

Why do your mugs cost more than similar mugs?

I need to recover my considerable startup investment.  I seek to price my products in a way that pays the bills and leaves some profit for me and my family.  At some point going forward I may be able to reduce prices, but for now I hope that customers will see the price as do-able considering the positive impact that the mugs will likely have on the recipient.

What do you hope to accomplish with this project?

Millions of VOTERS who elect people who are fiscally conservative.  I think that the best way to get our RUNAWAY DEFICIT SPENDING under control is to inform VOTERS with a tool that is memorable and that will impact how they vote.    My hope is that through this effort, eventually many millions of voters will become informed and will remember the 1.9 million years analogy.  So I think big....   help me make it happen?

Aren't gifts to elected officials illegal?

Rules for state and local governments vary.

For the Federal government:  Small gifts are permitted.  Below you can read the regulation for U.S. Congress.  Senate rules are similar.

Excerpt from the rules:

Gifts Worth Less Than $50

You [Congressman] may accept a gift worth less than $50 ($49.99 or less before tax) from someone who is not a registered federal lobbyist, foreign agent, or entity that employs or retains a registered federal lobbyist or foreign agent, with some caveats.

Are the mugs you sell made in the USA?

No, I wish.  I have not been able to find an affordable source for U.S. made ceramic mugs.  The print on demand company I use (a USA company) sources the blank cups from abroad, most likely from China.

How can I tell if my Rep already has one of these mugs?

No easy way to tell, really. But does it matter?

TWO MUGS? If he or she receives two mugs it will make a much more
solid impact, and perhaps he/she will pass the extra one on to
someone else who might make a difference.

TEN MUGS? Now we are getting somewhere. The impression is
unforgettable, and most of the mugs will wind up at some thrift
store, to be sold for $1.50. The buyer is likely a voter. Maybe
that voter will make sure the candidate is fiscally conservative?

What if there is a problem with my order. Broken mug, order lost in shipment, poor quality mug or printing?

Are these gifts to FEDERAL elected officials legal?

Yes. Excerpt from: www.ethics.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/gifts

Gifts under $50 (Senate and House rules are the same) Member, officer, or employee may accept a gift, other than cash or cash equivalent (e.g., stock, gift card, voucher), having a value of less than $50, provided that the source of the gift is not a registered lobbyist, foreign agent, or private entity that retains or employs a registered lobbyist or foreign agent.

Are gifts to STATE elected officials legal?

Every state has it’s own rules. You can read a summary for any state here:

https://www.ncsl.org/ethics/legislator-gift-restrictions

Generally, if the gift is under $20, it is permissable, but mailscreeners sometimes err on the side of caution.
